New Visitor Sign-in Procedure

At Bartlett we are continually committed to maintaining a safe learning environment for our students and staff. We are excited to announce that we are implementing a new visitor check-in system beginning today, 8.8.19. With this new system, visitors will need to bring a government-issued ID and sign in at the front lobby if they wish to visit classrooms or other areas beyond the front lobby. Visitor badges will be printed at the time of sign-in. Thank you so much for your understanding and patience as we implement this new system.

Back to School at Bartlett!

Parents are invited to Back to School Night at Bartlett on Tuesday, August 13 from 5:30 to 7:30 PM. During this event, you will learn about the special programs at Bartlett and you will have an opportunity to visit your students' classrooms and meet their teachers. Tdap Needed for all 7th Graders.

Due to the continuing spread of pertussis or whooping cough in the valley, Porterville Unified School District is continuing to require that all 7th-grade students provide proof that they have had a recent Tdap booster in order to attend classes this year.

If your student has not had a Tdap booster, please schedule an appointment with your doctor as soon as possible. Please be aware that Tdap boosters are available at WalMart Walgreen's pharmacies on a walk-in basis. The vaccine may also be available at the Tulare County Immunization Department at 559-685-5725.

If your student has already had the booster please provide a copy of the shot record to our clerk in the school office. Please feel free to call us with any questions or concerns.

Please be aware that all students who do not have verification will be held in our library until proof of the Tdap vaccination is provided.

Parent Institute for Quality Education (PIQE) at Bartlett Starting Soon!

All Bartlett parents are invited to attend our first Level 1 workshop with the Parent Institute for Quality Education or PIQE on August 20th @ 6:00 pm here in our school library. This series of workshops is designed to help parents learn how to support and prepare their students for high school and college. The workshops will be offered in English and Spanish and daycare and snacks will be provided.

if you are interested in learning about how to help your students achieve academic success and understand the importance of middle school and high school, we look forward to meeting you.

Volleyball Skills Camp

Bartlett School will be holding a Volleyball Skills Camp starting on Monday, July 22 thru Wednesday, July 24, 2019 from 9-11 am each day in the Bartlett MPR. All girls interested in playing on the volleyball team are welcome to attend.

Promotion Activities at Bartlett Middle School

Here is some important information for the parents of our promotion-eligible eighth graders.

Our eighth graders will be walking to Porterville High School on Thursday, May 30th, at 8:30 AM for promotion practice. Please be aware that students who do not attend practice will not be allowed to participate in the ceremony. After promotion practice, the students will be escorted to Zalud Park for the eighth-grade barbeque. The students will return to Bartlett School at 2:30.
The promotion ceremony will begin at 9:00 AM on Friday, May 31st, at the Buck Shaffer auditorium at Porterville High School. Students participating in the ceremony should report directly to the auditorium on the morning of the ceremony by 8:30 AM. Students arriving late may not be allowed to participate. Once again, students participating in the ceremony should report directly to the auditorium on Friday morning, not to Bartlett School. All students must arrive before 8:30 am.

We would like for all families to keep the following guidelines in mind as you prepare for your students to participate:

Please make sure that your students dress appropriately for the ceremony. Boys should wear clothing that is clean and of the proper size. Pants should be worn around the waist and should not sag. Shirts should be clean and free of any print.

Girls should also adhere to the dress code. Students wearing clothing that is too short or too revealing will not be allowed on stage. Spaghetti straps, strapless, or backless garments will not be allowed. Young ladies wearing heels are advised to bring the shoes to practice on Thursday morning. Students may bring their clothes to administration for approval.

Families should also be aware that balloons will not be allowed in the auditorium. Air horns and other noise-making devices should also not be brought into the auditorium.

Setting Up Meetings with Bartlett Counselor Online!

Please be aware that parents and students can now request a meeting with our guidance counselor online through our homepage under the links section. The links can be found on our web page at https://bartlett.portervilleschools.org. The links are located on the right side of the home page where there is a link for parent requests and another link for student requests.

Students or parents can request a meeting with Ms. Beltran or Mr. Wilson in guidance through the Bartlett homepage under links. If you need to see Ms. Beltran or Mr. Wilson immediately you may go to the office and use the office Chromebook to request a meeting.

We hope that both parents and students will use the links when needed and stay informed of their students' progress and needs.

State Testing Coming Soon!

Parents should be aware that Bartlett school will begin state testing soon.

Our 8th graders will be taking the California Science Test between April 15 and April 26th. During this time our 7th and 8th grade English Learners will be taking the English Language Proficiency Assessment for California. The California Science Test or CAST will measure the students' knowledge in the new science standards and the English Language Proficiency Test for California will measure their growth in English.

Between April 30 and May 24, all students will be taking the California Assessment of Student Performance and Progress which will measure their growth in English Language Arts and Math.

Parents can help by making sure that all students get plenty of sleep and attend school every day during the testing weeks. Parents can also help by encouraging their students to do their best on the test and impressing upon them the importance of doing well since important decisions are made about each student's education based on their test scores.
